Chennai, the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu, lies a few hundred kilometres to the south of Kolkata. After the mayhem of the three days we spent there, we hoped for a more relaxed time.

We found that the Chennai is still a quintessentially Indian metropolis, but quite as chaotic as its northern neighbour.

  • Hi Chris and Jan. Would you recommend Chennai as a destination for other travellers? Many of your sways are jam packed with stories and adventure. This one isn’t quite to the same detail. Does that mean there is less to do, and if so, is it worth going there?

    • Chennai has relatively few tourist attractions, and they are all some distance from one another. The fort was very interesting for a couple of hours, and the museum complex was worth a visit. The tourism sites highlight the long, wide beach, but we didn’t find it very appealing.

Chennai is in that category of places that we’re happy to say we’ve been there but won’t be planning a return.
