After the closure of airports in the north-west of the country we had to make last minute changes to our plans, adding days in Goa and cancelling our visit to Chandigarth and Amristsar. But we were very relived when we were able to juggle dates and flights so we could still get to Nagpur for our much-anticipated visit to Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve.
The experience we had at the reserve was unforgettable, and will rank amongst the best we have had on any of our travels. Right up there with Machu Picchu and the Nile cruise.

Chris I forgot to ask in my previous post. When you saw the Tigers, did you ask them how it was they’d won 3 AFL premierships between 2017 and 2020 when St Kilda had only won one in 130 years in the competition? Maybe they had some insights for you?
The Tadoba Tigers understand that life in the jungle is very tough, and they had sympathy for the poor Saints in their struggle against the odds. But they also agreed that we are both happy we’re not Magpies.
Hi Chris and Jan. Have you been of any other safari style holidays, e.g. via trips to Africa? If so, how did this experience compare? If not, is that part of your future plans?
Chris has been on a Safari at Sabi Sabi Game Park, a private park near Kruger in South Africa. The structure and itinerary of the two are very similar, early morning and then evening safaris. But the animals are different, of course. In Africa the goal is to see the “Big Five”; Lion, Elephant, Giraffe, Rhinoceros, and Cheetah. Chris saw all but the cheetah.
Maybe the memory of Tadoba is more recent, but it might have just shaded Sabi Sabi, but not by much. As for the future, high on our list is the gorillas in Rwanda. And while we are there, we’ll probably throw in the Serengeti as well 🙂
