After our snowy visit to Schliersee in Bavaria, we took the train north to York. But not before an important celebration in London before we left.

Click on the photo to read about our visit to York, where we experienced its long heritage through Roman, Viking, and Christian eras.

  • Hi Chris & Jan. You spent a fair bit of time travelling through the UK on your last trip. Now that your back again, on what basis are you deciding on what parts to travel to next? Are you revisiting a few old favourite spots, or have you got a bucket list of new locations?

    • All the parts we haven’t seen yet! The attraction in London, of course, is family. We didn’t extend our visit to Orkney to Shetland last time and have always felt that was a missed opportunity. Chris hadn’t been to York, and that was one the way so it was included for this trip.

It’s likely we will be back in mid-2027 and will likely target a couple of walking areas like the Peak District and perhaps back to the North Yorkshire Moors. We didn’t spend enough time in south Wales or along the western coast.
