We needed to get across the country to reach Aberdeen for a house sit we had organised, and decided to break the trip with a couple of days in central Scotland. There is a lot more to see and do in Perthshire than we had time for, but our short stopover still gave us time to see a bit.

We spent time in the cities of Perth, Dundee, and St Andrews, as well as managing to fit in a short walk in a National Trust property. The weather continued to favour us, and we spent the whole time in the sunshine.

Those of you with even a passing interest in golf will recognise the name St Andrews. Read on to find out what we saw at the famous course.

  • Hi. Chris and Jan. I’m wondering if there was there any particular nexus between the Perth In Scotland compared to the Perth in Western Australia? Similar street names, similar landscape or the like?

    • The landscape certainly isn’t at all reminiscent of Perth WA. Not a surf beach in sight. The river Tay running through it is straight, fast flowing and narrow, so nothing like the Swan River either. Your hometown was probably named by some homesick Scot pining for the fjords :-).
