Loch Ness, home to the famous monster Nessie, lies next to Inverness, the capital of The Highlands. We spent a few days in the district, exploring what sights it has to offer. The surrounding area is incredibly rich with attractions for tourists. From the rugged wilderness of the loch itself, to ancient sites, grand castles, spectacular beaches, a famous battlefield, and the lovely city of Inverness, there is a tremendous amount to see.

We covered a lot of ground during the few days we were here, and we hope you enjoy the story of our visit.

  • I’ve heard it unkindly mentioned that if Nessy was to take another physical form, it would be a St Kilda Premiership trophy, i.e. everyone talks about it as if it exists, but it is so rarely seen you wonder why people still think it will turn up. Thoughts?

    • Very good! 🙂 The mythical prize, for sure. But, about a week after we were there, we saw a news article where someone saw a 20-metre shape gliding past them, just below the surface of the lake. So it may not be a myth after all! And the fantasy of another Saint’s flag might also be alive, contrary to the evidence of this year’s (and the last 60 years) results.
