The next phase of our journey has begun. We've temporarily left Europe behind and have begun our travels through Africa, the Middle East, Turkey and Eastern Europe. This will take around 90 days, by which time we will be able to re-enter the Schengen zone for another stint in Europe.

Our first port of call is Egypt. What an amazing place it is. Thousands of years of history to experience and learn about. Such a rich and complex past, with no hope of us doing more than scratch its surface as a modern visitor.

The first story is about what we did over four days in the magically insane city of Cairo. What a blast! And how much we learned in such a short time.

We hope you enjoy joining us on this part of our adventure.

  • That was a very busy four days!!! Kate and I were in Cairo in the mid-90’s. We would have benefited from having Ahmed guide us – we tried to tackle the chaos on our own without google maps or search engines. You can image how that went! We can see from your photos the bits that we missed. We’ll have to make a trip back another time.
