Our journey takes us further to the north, leaving England and beginning our travels through Scotland. First stop Glasgow.

Two of Chris's old colleagues, Colin and Liz, live there now. He saw them last more than a decade ago when they were living in Sydney. It was good to catch up, and for Jan to meet them. Even better, they offered to be our guides during our stay.

You have a chance to come with us on our personal tour of this wonderful city.

  • Kate’s family are from Scotland; maybe 50km’s from Glasgow. We’ve been to Scotland a couple of times to visit, but we haven’t stopped in Glasgow itself. Having seen these pictures and read the stories, next time we’ll go there for sure. My question for the day… Do you think Mungo will catch on as a favourite baby name anytime soon? Maybe if we have a grandson?

    • Not sure the Scottish Mungo would match well with your Austrian surname, but who knows? I had always thought that Mungo Lakes National Park, between Mildura and Broken Hill, was an indigenous name. But it probably isn’t, and is another throwback to the days when settlers were pining for the home country and naming places after their hometown features. If that’s the case, it has to be said that there isn’t much resemblance between Glasgow and the desert of Western New South Wales.
