One of the must-see destinations in Turkey is the other-worldly landscape of Cappadocia. This volcanic region has been weathered over millennia to form an amazing array of formations, deep valleys that contain tall stone chimneys that look like elongated toadstools.

For centuries, the soft stone formations have been hollowed out to form cave dwellings, some of which are still occupied today. There is an ancient monastic history in the area as well. Cave churches can be found throughout the region, many with colourful frescoes that can still be seen today.

The small village of Goreme serves as the base for tourists to explore this amazing place, and to take scenic balloon flights over some of the most stunning scenery you can imagine.

Come with us on what proved to be the experience of a lifetime, and start planning your own trip to this magical part of the world,

  • Sorry to ask, but Covid Kate wants to know if it is called Love Valley because of all the phallic shaped rock formations?

    • I’m not sure about the origins of the Love Valley name, but if it has made Covid-girl think of phalluses, I hope that made your Christmas a little better 🙂
