After leaving the flat plains of outback Queensland's grazing districts, we continued our journey south through the centre of the State.
Our destination was to an entirely different world, Carnarvon Gorge in the Sandstone Wilderness of Western Queensland. We discovered a wonderful oasis in this very remote part of Australia, hours from the nearest town.
We did a couple of great walks there, so click on the photo to come travelling there with us.

Wow – another beautiful and extraordinary part of our country that I had no idea about. Have you chatted to many other travellers? Are they young families or retirees? Are there many foreign tourists or is it main QLD folk?
We were there at the beginning of the Queensland school holidays. Most campers were families, with a few grey nomads thrown in.
We had an interesting chat to some fellow campers in Lightning Ridge, but you will have to wait for the next post to find out what that was about. 😄
