After our chilly interlude in the mountains, trying to get to the top of Australia's highest mountain, our journey then took us back to the coast, and hopefully some warmer weather.

The next stage of our travels was through New South Wales. We started with a fantastic day walk from Gerringong, along the Kiama Coastal Trail, then did a few days exploring the areas around Newcastle for potential retirement destinations. We found some, but also had an incident in Newcastle that ended in a moon boot and crutches for one of us, and a temporary halt to any walking for a while.

A few days in Forster on the mid-north coast was an opportunity for Chris to catch up with long-lost friends from decades ago. There was then a decadent week in a resort at Port Macquarie, booked through our vacation club, Karma, where we did a little more exploring of coastal towns and beaches, and a little of the hinterland as well.

At least if you retire on the Sunshine Coast I can come and see you I visit Mum and Ted! Buderim has a nice shopping precinct including an excellent second-hand bookshop. I hope your injuries have healed. I have picked up a persistent nasty upper respiratory bug, been tested twice for COVID. Boring.
    Cheers

    • Thanks Frank. We are now at the Sunshine Coast doing some exploring around possible retirement places :-). We are also catching up with some friends who live here. After a weekend house sit we begin the long trek through coastal Queensland, the first of the areas we really no nothing about, so in some ways the adventure begins next week.

  • Hope your ankle is improving Jan. The summary and pics are so interesting and colourful. Good to see you are in a tshirt. Not so here though. You have done a lot in a month already. Any prospects for retirement? Love Jo xx

    • Hi Jo

Yes we’ve covered a lot of ground. Currently, at the Sunshine Coast and heading into new territories after the weekend. The weather has been bright and sunny, but not as warm as usual at night.
